Sustainable Renewable Development, That Works

Silva Ortus has developed a strategy over a number of years of successful operation in Africa to create a sustainable business that supplies hardwood and cash crops whilst supporting the drive to net zero. In Ghana, we work closely with the Forestry Commission and align to Government Forest and Wildlife Policies.

At Silva Ortus we see sustainability as a critical success factor and have embedded the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals into our business strategy. These 17 goals inform our business plan to ensure a long and prosperous endeavor for Silva Ortus and the regions in which we operate.

The belief in sustainability is predicated on the fact that we are harvesting teak (and other wood products), a precious and highly sensitive crop that requires careful, dedicated resources to manage its life cycle. We have instilled best practice processes from seed cultivation to tree harvesting.

We do not embark upon thinning programs. We plant at an appropriate density to avoid the need for thinning. This approach enhances the quality of our products and minimizes disease infestation

As potential customers or investors, we wanted to “set out the stall” and explain how passionate we are about sustainable forestry and agriculture which in the end drives the world-class value we create from our teak plantations.
